CurreChat is restricted for staff and teaching purposes, is available at curre.helsinki.fi/chat, and is in Microsoft cloud in the EU. Students normally lack access unless a teacher specifically requests its use in their course.

University of Helsinki students and staff members over 18 have free access to Copilot with commercial data protection; the service allows image creation using the DallE-3 image generation model.

Helka's generative AI search enables searching for international scholarly online sources from Helka and is available in Helka.

Kontra is the University of Helsinki language model-based machine translation service at translate.helsinki.fi, limited to the University network and requiring VPN. The service is located in the University's own data centre.

Microsoft Copilot with commercial data protection is available free to all University of Helsinki students and staff members over the age of 18 at copilot.cloud.microsoft. It is a Microsoft public cloud service for public/open data.

The University of Helsinki has two general-purpose generative AI solutions: Microsoft Copilot with commercial data protection, available for all students and staff members over the age of 18, and CurreChat, which is restricted for use by the staff and for teaching purposes. We recommend primarily using AI services supported by the University, such as Copilot with commercial data protection and CurreChat.
