University of Zilina prohibits employees and students from entering sensitive data into publicly available GenAI tools, including non-public university data, non-public study materials, test assignments, intellectual-property-protected materials, personal data without explicit written consent, preliminary research results, and trade-secret data of partners.
For seminar, semester, and final theses, University of Zilina students must clearly state whether and to what extent they used GenAI tools, including the tool name/version, a brief use description, and prompts in an appendix.
University of Zilina prohibits students from submitting work generated by GenAI in substantial or full scope without their own creative contribution, and requires students to respect instructor restrictions on GenAI use in a course.
University of Zilina treats undisclosed GenAI use, false information about the extent of GenAI use, and generated references to non-existent literature as disciplinary offenses or ethical-rule violations under its student disciplinary order and ethical code.
University of Zilina has a university-wide Rector's Order No. 1/2026 that introduces rules for ethical, safe, and transparent use of generative AI by employees and students in education, research, and administrative activities.
For research outputs, University of Zilina says GenAI tools may not be listed as an author or co-author unless the publisher requires it, and GenAI use for data generation, visualizations, translation, or statistical processing must be explicitly stated in the methodology or acknowledgements.
