ELTE has a university-wide Student AI Code implemented through rector instruction 4/2025 on AI use in education.
ELTE's rector instruction allows student use of AI tools in a supplementary, supporting role, but says they cannot replace human creativity, decision-making, analytical ability, or independent student work.
ELTE's rector instruction treats unattributed AI-generated results or content presented as a student's own work as equivalent to plagiarism, and prohibits AI use during in-class tests and examinations unless the task description expressly permits or requires AI use.
ELTE's rector instruction prohibits using sensitive or non-public research data, personal data or special categories of personal data, and NDA-covered or business-secret information as inputs to AI systems, except in the authorization cases described by the instruction.
ELTE's rector instruction says the university will provide mandatory basic AI training for every student from the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
