For education, creative activity, and research, VSB-TUO's AI rules say users must properly state when a result was achieved using AI, including the scope of use; presenting AI-generated outputs as one's own work is considered fraud.

VSB-TUO's AI rules list permissible student AI uses such as study inspiration, concept explanation, presentation preparation, stylistic corrections, and data analysis or modelling within projects unless prohibited; they list impermissible uses including automatic thesis writing, generating exam test materials, and creating deepfake or unethical manipulative content.

For teachers, VSB-TUO's AI rules list impermissible uses including automated grading of professional papers, essays, projects, and qualification theses, correcting tests, and entering students' personal data such as names, results, or health status into AI tools.

VSB-TUO's AI rules prohibit entering sensitive data, trade-secret data, unpublished research results, intellectual-property-protected data, or sensitive contractual partner data into AI tools, and say all inputs must comply with EU GDPR law.

VSB-TUO Central Library guidance describes AI-generated outputs as comparable to grey literature and advises users not to rely on a single source, model, or tool, but to cross-check AI responses against other models, web information, archived websites, and scientific perspectives.

VSB-TUO's AI rules set framework principles for AI tool use and apply to VSB-TUO devices and accounts, and to private devices when university data or outputs for VSB-TUO are processed.
